Raise your hand if you like to treat yourself to at least one new swimsuit come the summer season. You already know we have our hand in the air. But which suits are actually worth their price tag and won’t stretch, fade, or tear after you soak up the sun and play in the waves? We’re here to answer that question. Our editors have tested many of these brands, and can assure you that these options will hold up over the years. We also asked for personal recs from other Skimm HQ members, just to make sure we covered all our bases. Just don’t blame us when you find yourself totally obsessed with each and every one. Let’s dive in.

Turn heads in this classic black one-piece that features wrap-around fabric over mesh to keep you supported while showing a little skin. It has removable padded cups, comes in four other color options, and is available in sizes XS–XL. ($29.99, Cupshe)

Trust us on this one. An underwire top is a staple, especially if you’ll be snorkeling, swimming, or participating in any kind of water sport. We’ve done all three in this top, all while feeling fully supported. The underwire is surprisingly comfortable and the adjustable straps ensure the perfect fit. ($96, Monday Swimwear)

With Outerknown’s ultra-flattering Seea suits, you can go colorful or keep it classic. Aaand they provide repairs and recycling for every single one. So you can keep loving your pick(s) forever and ever…and ever. PS…Skimm’rs get 20% off with code SKIMMSWIM. ($70+, Outerknown)*

You might have seen this brand all over Instagram. We’re happy to report that it is, in fact, really that good. This top may look like it wouldn’t provide a ton of coverage, but it’s very supportive and will even give you a little lift (we’ve tested it). Plus it comes in an iridescent pink or baby-blue. Cute. Customers agree it also works for those with larger bust sizes. ($95, Frankies Bikinis)

This one has a bigger price tag, we agree. But we can vouch for Mara Hoffman suits. They hold up wash after wash. Plus this style is timeless. A bandeau top won’t give you any strap tan lines (just always remember to wear sunscreen please), and you can pair it with pretty much any style bottom. ($140, Amazon)

Like wearing a sports bra to the beach, you’ll be able to swim, play beach volleyball, or even just enjoy a happy hour, all while feeling supported and secure. It’s seriously one of the most comfortable tops we’ve ever worn, and we love that it comes in nine different colors (including a standout red). FYI, we sized up for a better fit. ($88, Free People)

Marysia has been around for a long time, and for good reason. The brand is still serving up bathing suits with supportive tops and their signature scalloping. Grab the bottoms while you’re at it to make it a matching set. ($150, Amazon)

You might be wondering about the sizing guide for this swimsuit. Don’t be alarmed, but it comes in just one size. While you may be raising your eyebrows, we’ve actually worn it and can report that it really is incredibly stretchy, moving with you as you bend, twist, and find new positions to tan in. ($215, Amazon)

More than a few Skimm HQ editors have been wearing J.Crew swim for years now. Say you find yourself taking a surf lesson. This suit is your go-to. It’s made from recycled materials with a zippered front that lets you control how much chest you’re exposing. It also features UPF 50 sun protection, comes in four solid colors, and sizes 0–16. ($78.99+, J.Crew)

If you’re looking for something with “Baywatch” vibes, go for this retro one-piece with high-cut legs, cheeky coverage, and a low back. It’ll hold up wash after wash (yes, you can put it in the washing machine), and will quickly become your must-have suit for pool parties and bachelorette parties. ($115.45+, Amazon)

If you’re looking to mix it up from your classic black suit, give this flirty lemon-printed one a try. It’s wire-free so there won’t be any sticking or pinching, but it’s lined and will provide full coverage with the option to add or remove the straps. It’s also UPF protection 30+ and comes in sizes up to 6X. ($59.50, Torrid)

This top has all the support of an underwire style, but is actually completely wireless except for the notched V neckline for a little added flare. It comes in lots of bright, solid colors and sizes up to DD. Customers love how soft the fabric is and say it doesn’t dig into their skin at all. ($48+, Amazon)

Hello, sparkle and shine. Need we say more? This glitzy fabric features a one-shoulder neckline and stretches to hug your body in the best way. It comes in bright pink, emerald green, and silver and sizes up to 5XL. Pro tip: throw a pair of denim shorts over this and wear it as a bodysuit after the beach. ($115, Good American)

We’ll never be over a colorful floral print when it comes to swimsuits. The skinny straps form a new take on the halter neckline that’ll give you a surprising amount of lift. It’s made from regenerated nylon, so you can feel good about it being produced sustainably. Choose from sizes XS–XXL. ($47.50, Amazon)

Have you heard? Aerie makes fabulous swimsuits for any age. This one has a fun crinkle fabric for a little texture, and comes in five pigmented colors to choose from. We love the orange haze. It fits like a sports bra but has removable pads if you want an extra lift. Customers say it works for those with larger bust sizes. ($36.95, Aerie)

The low-cut neckline of this top is offset with the ruffle. The high-waisted bottoms will accentuate your waist and keep you comfy all day. The set comes in sizes up to 4XL, and customers love that you can adjust the straps for just the right amount of support. ($42.99, Cupshe)

Choose your actual bra size up to a 44H, and be amazed at how weightless and comfortable this top feels. The fabric (made from regenerated nylon) is thick and durable, and will hold up over time as it’s resistant to anything that might cause it to fade like chlorine, salt, and even sunscreen. It also comes in eight summer-ready colors, so take your pick. ($98, Cuup)

This one has full bust and bottom coverage, but a revealing open back. We’re sold. The stretchy, recycled fabric will be compressive for long days spent under the sun, but don’t worry about comfort. We’ve worn this and find it easy to stay in, even on longer beach days. It comes in both solid and striped options, and sizes 0–14. Customers say it’s good for those with larger chests too. ($95, Summersalt)

Beneath the halter neckline and ruching, the fabric will cinch your waist while the built-in bra will keep you comfy and lifted. The tie at the neck is adjustable, and the suit comes in sizes up to 14. Customers say it’s so flattering, they never want to take it off. ($188, Hermoza)
